Elastomer Types

Natural Rubber (NR)
High resilience and tensile strength; good abrasion resistance; Poor oil and weathering resistance. Typical temperature range: -50°C to +100°C (-58°Fto +212°F).

Styrene Butadiene (SBR)
High tensile strength, better abrasion resistance, poorer fatigue resistance. Used in tires, conveyor belts, molded rubber goods, shoe soles and roll coverings

Nitrile (NBR)
Excellent hydrocarbon oil/fuel resistance and resilience. Limited weathering resistance. Typical temperature range: -30°C to +120°C (-22°F to +248°F). Used in sealing and matting applications.

Ethylene Propylene (EPDM)
Excellent ozone/weathering resistance; excellent hot water and steam resistance; good resistance to inorganic and polar organic chemicals. Low resistance to hydrocarbons. Typical temperature range: -45°C to +150°C (-49°F to +302°F), up to +180°C (+356°F) in steam.

Polychloroprene (Neoprene)
Good weather and ozone resistance, and fair resistance to inorganics. Moderate oil resistance and limited temperature resistance. Typical temperature range: -40°C to +120°C (-40°F to +248°F). Useful in pneumatic applications.
